wait on the Lord

The Waiting Room

Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength… (Isaiah 40:31)

Waiting is never easy, never fun. Whether you’re waiting for God to intervene, or for the ability to be better, or for some situation to change, it rarely feels like progress is being made. It feels more like you’re standing still while the world is passing you by.

But the Bible tells us that waiting on God is not wasted time — it’s renewal time. God does something sacred in the waiting room. He teaches patience. He deepens trust. He loosens our grip on anxiety and tightens our hold on Him.

Sometimes we wait in joyful expectation. Other times we wait while fighting back tears. Either way, we wait with God. He’s there with us the whole time.

This verse in Isaiah doesn’t promise you’ll get what you want if you wait. It promises that your strength will be renewed. And that might be the greatest gift of all.

If you find yourself in a season of waiting, don’t assume something’s gone wrong. And don’t be in too much of a rush to move on. This may be the place where God draws you nearer than ever.

Embrace the wait. God is with you in the stillness. And he never wastes a moment.
