Hagar wasn’t where she wanted to be. After being mistreated and misunderstood, she was now running away. Alone in the wilderness, she must have felt invisible. But it was there — out in the middle of nowhere, far from everything she knew — that God showed up.
He spoke to her. He even called her by name. And he gave her hope. In response, Hagar said something no one had said before: “You are the God who sees me.” (Genesis 16:13)
Sometimes we carry pain that no one else sees. How could they see it, when we hide it so well? And then we wonder why no one seems to care.
The God who met Hagar in the desert is the same God who sees you — everything about you. He hears your every prayer. He sees your every effort. He knows about every tear you shed in solitude.
You are never invisible to him.
Others may overlook you. But God sees you fully. And he loves you deeply.
So if you’re feeling hidden today, like your story doesn’t matter or your presence doesn’t register, remember Hagar. God saw her.
And he sees you.
